Hi from Texas! I'm like Amy....I've been reading a bit over here and decided to join up. I'm cajungal on the MJF forum and because my brain can't handle memorizing another name I've decided to stay cajungal over here, too.

After being born in Texas, I was raised on a small farm in New Iberia, Louisiana (where Tabasco is made). Our home was on the Bayou Teche where I'd set crab lines along the bank before heading off to school. Coming home was a treat because my horse would be waiting at the gate for me and my crab lines were full!

After various events and changes, my Mom and I ended up in New Orleans. Wow! another way of living. I lived the big city life for several years....high heels, office parties, manicured nails....the whole thing. I forgot my roots.

I made it back to Texas, met my husband and started a family. My husband's family traveled around Texas staying in various camps. I swore to him that I would NEVER go camping because I couldn't bring my hairdryer. Our first girl came along and ....ya' know how it is....for a young family, there is no money to do anything. I wanted to go on a vacation and we simply couldn't afford it. Hubby, Jason, suggested camping. I agreed and that fresh air woke my brain up and BANG my love of the outdoors came back.

We now live on a small farm....One Acre Farm....and spend more time outdoors than we do indoors. My girls raise chickens, pigs, goats, and have some indoor pets, too.....snake, dragon, turtle, and gerbils. There are also 4 cats and 3 dogs running around. Aside from our "farmlife" we love doing just about everything outdoors.....fishing, hunting, horseriding, hiking, camping, bird watching, and taking long naps in our hammocks.

I look forward to chattin' with y'all!

Blessings
Catherine

Welcome to the Outpost Catherine!

You sound like our type of gal! :D Isn't it funny how we go through phases in our life, but we end up coming back to the beautiful great outdoors? There is so much variety and LIFE out there! I always find it facinating!

Hey, Catherine - so glad you signed up over here too! Looking forward to learning more about life from your southern perspective. I love your nephew's quote. That's what it's all about, isn't it?
Talk to you more soon!
