I *LOVE* this stove!! Our most difficult purchase was our Camp Stove - it wasn't as easy to research as other gear. Thankfully, Backpacker Magazine had a review recently and rated the Brunton as the top choice. Well...I have to agree! It uses very little propane and has a ignition. We also found it to be more sturdy than other manufacturers out there. We like the integrated handle, too...although it certainly wasn't make-or-break point in choosing to buy.
My only qualm is that in the early morning after hitting the "dew point" the ignition doesn't want to fire, meaning that you need a long-nosed fire source. But even that isn't too bad.
DH found it on Amazon at a good price with free shipping. I want to say it was around $80-$85. HTH if you're looking for a new stove! ~ K

I haven't tried the Jet Boil yet, but it looks fantastic! Nice and compact and easy to use. The only camp stoves that I have experience with are the Coleman brands.

Speaking of backpacking stoves:
Has anyone used the Jet-Boil? I'm considering it as an alternative source, but I don't "...know..." any current users. I tried to tell DH that Mary Jane only "endorses" high-quality products, but he wanted to hear more tales, I guess.
So...like it? love it? hate it? tips? tricks? should-know-before-buying? I'm open to hear *anything* y'all have to say if you use it...or anything similar to it. ~ K

It does look like a nice one! We've got a Coleman 2-burner cheapie (about $35) that's kinda klunky, but it's worked through 3 elk hunting seasons now, plus a few creekside cookouts, so I can't complain.

Very tidy looking stove!! We only use backpacking stoves, but boy if I needed a good camping stove this would be the one...... I hadn't seen these up here, but we are ten years behind the rest of the world! NEAT jo |
