This is from an interview with White House Chef Walter Scheib who has recently written "White House Chef: Eleven Years, Two Presidents, One Kitchen."

From AM New York, 2/20/08

"If we opened up a burger join in the basement, both presidents would have been just as happy. They believed if something was good, putting melted cheese on it would improve it 100 percent." Predictably, the first ladies were more diet conscious: Hillary Clinton adopted a similar attitude to food guru, Alice Waters, trying to incorporate regional ingredients; Laura Bush was "adamant about organics."
