You are so right Jen. I posted the photo on flickr and it is amazing how many comments I have gotten from people who think just that...so exotic.
I finally caught his sweet mate this morning...harder to spot, but just as lovely.

Gorgeous, Eren! Cardinals are so exotic. People around here pretty much take 'em for granted, but look at them! They're as amazing as parrots (which once lived in the southeastern US too!).

Of ourse not! He was so beautiful. His mate has been around too, but she is not as easy to photograph of course. He has been chirping his little heart out. The boys and I sure have enjoyed having them around.

He is so pretty. We don't have Cardinals out here. I have only seen them in pictures. I need to see one up close and personal. I put him on my computer as the background, I hope you don't mind. MB

He is beautiful! Especially in the snowy tree. I wonder if he thinks he needs to head back to warmer weather?
