The neighbor boys think its so cool to practice their skills on the birds!!! They made it so cool that my 10yr old got his first bird last week..a robin. My rule is if you kill it you eat it. I cut him some slack on that it being his first one, but I did let him know that now her eggs are in danger and she had a family and etc.. I hope he gets it. I just wish the neighbors would.

I agree, Marcy - good policy. It's hard when we try to instill values, and then other people's kids swoop in and seem to wipe the slate clean. I just hope that our kids will emerge from childhood with their core goodness intact.
