If you’ve ever wished that you were a wildlife biologist, conservationist, or simply that your vacation was more than sitting poolside sipping Mai Tais, check out Biosphere Expeditions Organization. It's non-profit, with expeditions spanning four continents. Their mission includes working with scientists and local communities to “promote sustainable conservation and preservation of the planet’s wildlife.” You can decide if you want to rough it in a tent for two weeks tracking ibex and the elusive snow leopard in the Altai Mountains or have slightly more cushy accommodations in a rustic bungalow in Africa while studying cheetahs and lions. As an expedition member, your dollars are helping to fund the very research you are helping to gather, as you assist field scientists working to further understand and protect fragile ecosystems worldwide. Check out more information on their website at www.biosphere-expeditions.org.
