Jim just finished our outdoor sauna. It's small since we are heating with wood so it can't be too big. We have a "changing room" which we are going to put a comfy chair in so on those cold winter days I could crank up the stove and have a cozy retreat. JoAnn P.S. Jim found a small local lumberyard who had tons of "weathered" wood that they don't really sell. He went there and got a truck load of it and was charged 30 bucks. It looks like old barn wood so the new structure doesn't "stand out". Looks like it's been there for years. A worker at the yard said he heard of one guy who loaded up a big truck with this wood he got for a pitance and drove to Colorado and sold it for big bucks.JoAnn

Some century when I figure out how to post pictures I'll try to do that. Maybe I can coax my husband in helping me. By the way Jo he's a Mac person too. I use a PC. I also forgot to mention that our sauna is "a sauna with a view". We have a window in the dressing area and a smaller one in the sauna itself. Some people question our santity on this but it started when at our house in the suburbs when we lived in Mn we converteda small room in our walkout basement that had two windows. Jim decided not to board the window in the sauna part. You could sit in that hot sauna and look out the window at the snow so we decided to do the same here.JoAnn

We need pics JoAnne, it sounds wonderful..... The natives and many locals here have them at their cabins for washing up, you take a bucket of water in with you....... it's their shower! jo

I love recycled lumber! Sounds like you're livin' in the lap of rustic luxury, JoAnn! I was just dreaming today, among all my other pie-in-the-sky projects, about turning our little old camp trailer into an outpost, complete with fire ring & other fun accoutrements. Then, I'd want to paint it (and my chicken house) in some fun murals....did I already mention I have grand plans to turn an old rabbit house into a creekside guest cabin? Someday....
