After reading MJs Outpost book I just have to have one of my own. I thought about the backyard..no go there..then I was sitting on my porch and realized why not? So now I have to put it together. I have the lounge chairs, need a table and more privacy so will put up another lattice on the other side of the porch! I gave it a good cleaning last weekend because this space will also double as my store--Marcy's Market.

My question is--where have you build your outpost?

I have a few little getaways, my 1965 10ft travel trailer, my outdoor bathtub, my little pond (real little) I live in the suburbs but when I'm in my "outposts" I'm happy as can be. I live with my husband and two teen boys so I'm always looking for a place to get away from all the testosterone!

Yep! Every small effort counts, right? We just got our garden in - lots of containers and a few raised beds. The blasted Bermuda grass isn't going to get us this year!

If I could have the time and little bit of money my dreams would all flourish!!!! I really want to get that lattice up by June 1st and I like the idea of the curtain Thanks Deb

My little farm is my outpost. No real luxury to speak of, but it's off the beaten path & so comfy. I have dreams about sprucing it up - mostly adding art everywhere. I want to paint the barn, fancy up some fence posts with birdhouses and sculptures, create little bridges and pathway pretties. Dreaming is half the fun! Now if I could just find the time...

Oh! I dream of having a private place of my own as well. I don't even have a porch. I would do it too if I could. Why not put up the lattice or even a soft curtain. A neighbor down the block has done that. It looks so soft and flowing. She even has a rocking chair on the porch with big soft cushions on it.

I'm considering one of these: http://www.a1tarps.com/category.jhtm?cid=50 It would have to be very cheap though (cost wise)
