Well, I sometimes want to post about my cows, my working dog, my future chickens etc. and there doesn't seem to be an appropriate place to do that here. I'm also a member of the farmgirls forum, which was how I learned about dispatch. Am I just 'sposed to go over there when I want to post about nonwild animals? I do live on a ranch but I also live in the mountains. For me there's no way to separate being a farmgirl and being a mountaingirl. (I'm also a citychick 'cuz that's where I work and sometimes where I play.) BTW, as you already know, lots of people who trek the backcountry take dogs, llamas, horses, mules...last time I went my dog wore a dogpack and carried his own food and water :)

I agree, Sarah, and where would we draw the line? A fence doesn't really separate the farm from the wilderness. As far as I'm concerned, if you consider yourself an outdoorswoman, you're welcome here.
If you want to discuss stuff like embroidery, maybe it's best to hop over to the MJ's Farm site (unless, of course, you're a backcountry ranger who spends her free time knitting booties for bunnies or something - then you might want to post under "Artists in the Outback"??). I'm kidding. Seriously, though, stick around, Sarah, and talk about the domestic animals with whom you share your wild ranch life. Let's keep these doors open!
