Do your kids have room outdoors for their own little land of make-believe?
Where do they like to play? |

We just bought 25 acres of winding woods and fields - plus we've got 3 little creeks running through. So, it's a wonderland to our girls. They've always been outdoor kids, but now they can literally walk out our back door and go wild. At 4 & 6 years, they are always playing imaginary games together, often using sticks, leaves, and rocks as toys. I just need to work on letting out the reins a wee little bit; would be easier if we didn't share this ground with cottonmouths & copperheads! But, we try to impart to our kids the importance of identification, safety, AND coexistence. |

My daughter, who is now grown with kids of her own, had this sort of spot in our backyard. It's overgrown with evergreen type trees, and while she was living here, it was still very dense, so lots of privacy. She and the neighbor kids would play in there for hours. House, building roads, all sorts of things.
I also enjoyed this type of play as a kid on a farm with two creeks and lots of willows along the creek banks.
There's nothing better than letting kids be outside and let their imagination take them where it will. |
