Hey Girls, I'm no pro, but I consider myself an artist because I love to paint, draw, etc. This is one of my more recent experiments, kind of a multimedia bas relief.
If you dabble in the arts, please share your work too! |

Love it. The stream pebbles and water are so lifelike. You are certainly multi-talented. JoAnn |

Jen-
I must agree- Your salmon is fantastic! Unfortunatly I think my mom got most of the really creative talent in my family.
Have you done anything more recent that reflects your new location? I am sure we would love to see more samples!

Well, right now (when I get a rare spare moment), I'm working on a big canvas - a bull elk overlooking a valley here in Arkansas. Have it sketched out, just not sure what medium I'll use to finish it. Elk were reintroduced to the Buffalo River area several years ago, and the herd is doing well from what I hear (though I haven't seen any yet). Their presence makes me feel at home! |

I would when I figure out how to post a picture. I tried to join photobucket and my computer froze so I am reluctant to try again. I guess this topic is 'Be Brave" so I shall try again. I do animals. I call it Scratch Art but I was trying to be proper bt saying Scrapper Art. hahaha

Marybeth- I can't wait to see an example of your art.
Perhaps I will get brave and show my first attempt at using oil pastels in about 15 years lol :)

I learned many years ago from an artist friend who delved in all kinds of art. It is amazingly easy. Sometimes the board is hard to find because you want to use board and is is called Scrapper Board. The scratch paper is too thin. I did find some on line and it was called Paris scratch board from Blick Art Materials.

Wonderful, MB!!!! So glad you got the hang of photo posting. I've actually only posted pictures from my blog & need to dive into the Photobucket thing, too. These are sooooo good!!! I read that you can make your own scratchboard, too, but I haven't tried it - got mine from Dick Blick, too.
I just read about a local community art contest in the paper today, to be held in October. I've never entered anything like that, but I think it really sounds fun. The entry fee is only 4 bucks for 2 pieces of artwork - any media - so I think I'll get to work on my elk & maybe another fish picture. I love being "forced" into inspiration!

I wrote a big long entry and lost it, now I don't remember all I said. Wah! I did a fish scratch art that I really liked and gave it to a fishing friend. It was a Steelhead leaping out of the Skagit River. Jen, I do think you should enter the art contest. You are so talented. Be Brave! I think My scratch art looks very primitive after seeing others. Could you post some of yours? And photobucket is seemingly very easy only now I can't find my picture. Laugh a minute here.
