...have I been? Well, my husband had hernia surgery on Friday up in the "big city," and I've been taking care of all of my boys since then. I had no idea just how flat-out that particular surgery could leave a person.

I've missed the forum and all you gals! But, as they say, I'm back in the saddle! It's husband's first half-day back at work, so we'll see how that one goes.

Meanwhile, the little boys and I have been working around the garden and looking for hay. Are those of you who use hay in a crunch in your areas, too? There's just NOTHING here - and the prices are CRAZY, to boot. So much so, that I've been grazing the alpacas on the front lawn!

XOXO, Libbie

Just a little update -- late last night, a firlfriend of mine came up with a small trailer loaded with HAY!!! GOOD, GRASS HAY!!! She said that it wasn't "horse-quality," but it would be great for cows and alpacas, and when I asked her what she wanted for it, she said, "Nuthin'." WOW! I let her put her horse on our pasture for the last two springs-to-falls free, and hey - what a wonderful, timely and friendly "repayment." We outdoors-farmgirls have to stick with each other!

Wow - awesome deal on the hay, Libbie! And just in the nick of time it sounds like. We don't need to buy it (the only "livestock" we feed right now is chickens), but I think it's pretty slim pickins around here too.

By the way, I have nursed my big baby husband through hernia surgery too, and it ain't pretty. Hope your guy heals up quick.

Libbie- That is great! Grass hay is getting to be hard to find, but hopefully the crops will be "in" soon!

Yeah - grass hay - ANY hay, actually - has been really tough to come by. I sort of wish sometimes that I just had chickens and my milk cow, and I just might cut back to them in the fall. I'm getting a bit farm-whelmed lately - but then I just think of MaryJane, and that it too some time for her farm to be as loverly as it is, and I think I can do it again. Slow and steady...slow and steady...slow and steady....

Jen - I'm glad to hear of another guy who made it through the surgery okay! How long did it take him to feel like he was "normal" again? I know mine is getting all feisty about the whole thing. It's been two weeks for him, and I do believe he thinks he's not going to get better...

Mine's a big baby (aren't they all?), so it seemed to take a loooong time. I think it was probably a month before he was good-to-go, so hang in there!
