We are too! We have snow shoes on our Christmas wish list. We got lots of snow last year but the wind chill was so bad we were unable to get out and enjoy it as much as we would have liked.

You don't need to tell me about windchill! Moved from Minnesota four years ago. Use to go up to the Boundary Waters area for the Department's annual cross country ski trip every year. Man was it cold. We had windhills of -40 or more. Everyone said just keep moving you'll warm up--I didn't : )After we moved here I went skiing behind my house and by golly I actually got warm skiing! Milder temperatures here and usually no drastic windchill temperatures. JoAnn

A windchill of -40? I don't think you could ever get warm in that! Yikes!

Deb, In parts of northern Mn. the temperature without windchill has been -40. This is why when Jim took his early retirement and wanted to move out of the city and live "up North" I said no way: ) JoAnn

We traveled through International Falls to go houseboating in Rainy Lake one year. My kids saw a sign that read "The ice box of the nation" or something close to it. We learned that they test many products outside because of the extreme temperature drops up there in the north.

I like snow - but not frigid temps.

We're supposed to get flurries this weekend. What's nice is we get lake effect snow and can sometimes amount to quite a few inches. Yeah!

There's a town in MN called Embarrass yup that's the name. Routinely it has the coldest temperatures in the nation. It usually beats out International Falls. JoAnn
