We had our first spring thunderstorm this evening. It was beautiful and fleeting, leaving cool air and whipped-cream clouds in its wake. The weathercasters mulled it over forever, milking it for any possibility of tornado action, but nothing newsworthy happened.

My husband has assumed the role of weather worrier, so I don't get too stirred up by it all. When I was a kid & we'd hear the sirens blare, warning of a tornado nearby, I'd desperately scramble to get all my critical belongings (plastic horses, journal, books, posters, etc) into the basement. Funny.

We did install a concrete storm shelter when we moved in (no basement here), so it's nice to have a "safe" place just a few paces from the door. Plus, it'll serve as a root cellar too. Will let you know how it holds up if the big one hits!
