This is the name of a village by the sea on the Garden Route in South Africa. The village has about 30 houses, and a restaurant and general store. And a beach! There is a camping ground nearby which has a few basic cabins (with just beds, a table, a kitchen counter with a kettle and some crockery and cutlery). We stayed in a cabin that overlooked a river inlet.

One day we were there a baboon jumped onto the railing and then onto the door to try and get the handle and open it! I had to hold the door shut and bang on the window to get it to go away...it was after our food.
This is what I managed to catch on camera:

I also saw a creature just outside the cabin after dark and I am not sure what it was - it could have been a large monkey, a porcupine or a dog - but it had a round shape and seemed to be shaggy or long haired...?!
The village is next to a huge inlet,

(it was very misty there) and the waves just outside the entrance to the inlet were enormous! We sat in the sand dunes watching the waves, the seabirds and the mist rolling around the bush-clad hils - it was very unspoilt, wild and beautiful.
We have been to South Africa 3 times (since it is DH's homeland) but my favourite place to visit was Wilderness - hope to go back there some day!

Just beautiful, Debs. Sounds like a little tropical utopia. I've heard that baboons can be extremely persistent, clever, and destructive in their pursuit of food - can't believe you got a picture!

That is so beautiful! It seems like a wonderful place to go vacationing.

South Africa seems like it is a wonderful place to visit. I have a friend that just got back from a semester in Cape Town working with orphans. She traveled all over South Africa while she was there and has told us about it. I am officially adding another destination to my “I want to visit” list ;)
